Here are the answers to the most frequent questions we receive from homeowners in Lake and Portage counties regarding floor maintenance.
Will a buff and coat remove deep scratches?
No. This process is designed to remove surface scuffs in the finish only. If you have deep scratches that penetrate down to the wood, or gray traffic patterns, a full sanding is required to remove them.
How often should I have my floors recoated?
For an average household in Northeast Ohio, we recommend a maintenance coat every 3 to 5 years. If you have large dogs or heavy foot traffic, you may want to do it sooner to prevent wear-through.
Can you change the color of my floor with a recoat?
No. A maintenance coat adds a clear layer of protection over the existing color. To change the stain color, we must sand the floor down to raw wood.
How long do I have to stay off the floors?
The new finish typically dries enough to walk on with socks in 3 to 4 hours. However, we recommend waiting 24 hours before moving furniture back in and allowing full traffic.
Do you use oil or water-based finish?
We offer both options and will recommend the best product based on what is currently on your floors. We ensure compatibility to prevent peeling or adhesion issues.
Are you insured?
Yes, Siti Floors is fully insured. You can trust our owner-operated team to treat your home with care and professionalism.
